If there is one event to bring in the Christmas season, an event to make you feel warm and festive and to embrace all things Christmas, it is the wonderful Lincolnshire Food & Gift Fair.

For two days at the end of November, the Lincolnshire Showground welcomes some of the county’s most loved food and drink brands alongside talented independent sellers and craftspeople to create a rustic, thoroughly Lincolnshire affair. Last year was my first visit, and I couldn’t wait to get back once again!

If you were looking for gifts, homeware and decorations, don’t worry – the Fair had you covered!

There were lots of cute characters like these two around!

Or, if you’re like me and you know the true way to a yellowbelly’s heart, then you’ll head straight to the food.

After just one lap of the Fair, a good few of these little desserts from Angel’s Desserts had disappeared…

So. Many. Sweets.

If you like a good, golden crust deep-filled pie, prepare yourself…

And you can’t have a Lincolnshire Food & Gift Fair without Poacher Cheese!

And all the chutneys, pickles and preserves to go with it…

And do you know what else I’ve discovered? Lincolnshire folk like their gin.

The stalls sampling gin, wine and beer definitely had a busy weekend.

And you can’t visit a Food and Gift Fair without indulging in lunch at the Food Court. Hog Roasts, Duck Wraps, Waffles…

And this…

A Boston Sausage Burger with red onion chutney, rocket and a slathering of melted cheddar cheese – the best, most Lincolnshire burger I think I have ever had!

And while you were eating, you could enjoy festive songs from a choir. These guys were incredible…

See! Aren’t they brilliant?!

And if 150 stalls wasn’t enough for you, then you could stop by the Showground’s own cookery demonstration area, the Lincolnshire Kitchen. This is where you could take in food and drink ideas and tips from chefs, bakers and mixologists from across Lincolnshire. I managed to catch a bit of Dominic Franks of Belleau Kitchen, who was baking a super festive frangipani mincemeat tart!

The Lincolnshire Showground has already announced its dates for the next Lincolnshire Food & Gift Fair – 2nd and 3rd December 2017! So you can get the dates in your diary now…
