One of life’s greatest luxuries is the opportunity to take a little time out from your daily routine, relax and indulge in a pamper. And while the abundance of skincare and beauty products available to us means that we can exfoliate, cleanse and moisturise from home, sometimes a good, luxurious facial is just what you need.

Facials can help everyday skin problems – spots and acne, clogged pores, redness and dryness – in ways that some beauty products just can’t, and you can rest assured knowing your beautician will have the right combination of products and techniques to give your skin the bespoke treatment it needs.

Jayne, of The Courtyard Beauty Salon in Cleethorpes, offers a wonderful Luxury Facial – the prize I won at the Work Wise Women Annual Summer Dinner

The Courtyard Beauty Salon can be found within a secluded, peaceful area of Cleethorpes. Jayne, who has trained with elite beauty schools and masters of therapy (including one to one with Monsieur Jacques Courtin-Clarins, founder of Clarins Skincare and Beauty) takes you to the light and airy treatment room that becomes darker with mood lighting and calming music for relaxing treatments.

Comfort Zone is the product range and treatment collection of choice. The brand prides itself on its range of scientific “care for the skin, body, and soul”, using “the most powerful ingredients and delivering the most effective results.”

As the facial begins, you lay in the cosy treatment bed with thick, soft covers, and inhale a scented oil to begin your relaxation. What follows is 60 minutes of gentle stretches and a massage of the arms, hands, chest, neck and, with a deep cleanse, tone and moisturise of the face using a mixture of Comfort Zone’s professional spa products, hot towels and massage; all of the ingredients needed to rehydrate, cleanse and nourish the skin. After a short period of relaxation, Jayne brings a warming lavender tea, an additional little touch to provide you with a pamper that you simply can’t achieve at home.

Before the treatment, I had suffered a little breakout of spots and my skin felt quite clogged, but as soon as I had had my facial, I felt much more refreshed. When I got home, I could see that my complexion was much brighter, softer and more balanced, and now, six days later, I can still see and feel the benefits. Plus, I am finding make-up much easier to apply.

One of the advantages to indulging in a professional facial is the skincare advice you receive. Jayne offered some samples of Comfort Zone Essential products to try at home as well as some simple tips:

  • Try and not wear make-up for the rest of the day
  • Use a toner to remove any grime from the rest of the day
  • Treat yourself to a regular facial to keep your complexion looking and feeling its best.

And trust me, I will certainly be taking up this final piece of advice, I left the salon feeling absolutely wonderful.

The Courtyard Salon is on Facebook, and you can read more about the treatments available on the website.
