The brand new blog from freelance writer Lindsay Cowie

Hi there! Remember me? Once upon a time, I used to put pen to paper (so to speak) and get my blog on…

Well, friends, I’m back! I’m sat on my sofa cathcing up on Biffy at Glasto and writing for myself, and it feels so, so good! I had a break, I enjoyed my break, but now I feel refreshed, motivated and ready to create content for myself once again – under my brand new website of

The rebrand of my blog (Yellowbelle) and my little freelance writing business (Purple Swirl) is something I’ve alluded to over on my Twitter in recent months. Well, six months to be exact. There’s still some updates I need to make, but now feels like the right time to get back in the game. I feel like my mojo is coming back and I’m excited! And do you know what? I’ve really, really missed blogging and being a part of the community.

So, here it is. The all new!

Over the past few years, since I started blogging ‘properly’ back in 2010, my little corner of the internet has undergone several name changes – The LC Issue, to Yellowbelle, to In 2013, when I left my job as a Magazine Features Writer to go freelance, I started Yellowbelle as a way to blog about what’s happening where I live (Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Lincolnshire), as opposed to the more personal content of The LC Issue.

My freelance writing business was Purple Swirl. It was a name I came up with very quickly because, at the time, I was under the impression that I needed one. However, at my first meeting with The Business Hive (a brilliant enterprise support club in Grimsby), I was told that perhaps my own name would be the best business name for me, and that has always stuck with me. So, three and a half years later, I decided to make the change. Yellowbelle and Purple Swirl have combined to create Ta dah!

Not only have I changed my logo to suit my new business name, but the whole website has changed too. I felt like I needed a simple, fresh, modern design that reflected my renewed business focus and confidence, a place where I can blog and showcase my freelance work.

I think I’ve found it in this ‘Charlotte’ theme by Bella Creative Studio. It was an absolute bargain over on Etsy, and it was so easy to install. Updating my services and portfolio pages is my next priority, but for now, the blog is ready to go!

THE CONTENT is going to be a blog for business and lifestyle, combining posts from all the places to visit and things to do around North East Lincolnshire and Lincolnshire with updates about what I’ve been working on and the places I’ve been visiting as a part of my work life. And, there may even be one or two personal posts too!

Coming up, I have pics to share from some pretty fun work visits and a look at some of the projects I’ve been working on recently, as well as something for young business people and professionals that I am so excited to be a part of…

So please, enjoy! And feel free to find me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linkedin and say hello – I’m looking forward to chatting with you all!
