Last week, the ladies of the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce gathered together for an evening of fine food and fine company.

Rachel Green, a local, Lincolnshire Chef who appears on Television, in magazines and on radio, hosted a dinner in the grounds of her beautiful home in Tealby where the women members of the Chamber were able to network and chat with business friends. The evening began with a glass of Pimms in the warm evening weather, and canapes of courgette, black olive, mint, and feta fritters with lemon aioli.

Inside, the table was set for the diners, decorated with candles in rustic jars and flowers straight from Rachel’s garden. All of the herbs used in the night’s dishes were also straight from the garden, with the produce being sourced from local suppliers. The menu featured…

… with Lebanese spiced chicken with Rachel’s sweet tomato dressing and pink fir apple tomatoes, served with summer greens from the garden, stir fired with garlic and chilli.

… with wine from the nearby Somerby Vineyard, mint tea and white chocolate truffles being served too. After a busy time in the kitchen, Rachel joined the party to give an insight into her work and what inspires her cookery, to discuss the importance of local food and shared some of her top tips for recreating the night’s recipes.

Anne Tate, the Northern Lincolnshire manager of the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce, organised the event. She said: “This was the perfect opportunity for business women to meet and network informally. We’ve had the chance to experience some top class cooking in the wonderful ambience of Rachel’s home.”

Rachel Green added: “It’s been a huge privilege  to prepare food for an amazing set of women. I love what I do and what I personally gain; friendship, inspiration, and seeing people enjoy my home.”

The Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce is available for businesses across the region to join, and Rachel Green will host and cater events, dinner parties and other special occasions in her beautiful home. For more information, visit the Chamber’s website, and Rachel’s website.
