I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I just can’t resist a beautiful hardback, especially when they are as striking as this! The tales of two classic Disney characters told in enchanting stories with wonderfully illustrated covers.

The two books, which are published by Disney Press, have been written by author Serena Valentino who, according to goodreads, “is best known for weaving tales that combine mythos and guile”. ‘Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen’ (2009), tells the story of the Snow White’s evil Stepmother and how she became the Wicked Queen, whilst ‘The Beast Within: A Tale of Beauty’s Prince’ (2014) explores the Prince’s cruelty and why he was transformed into a monstrous beast.

I personally haven’t read any of Serena’s work, but I just can not wait to get started! I find the origins of fairy tales and alternative stories of classic Disney Princesses absolutely fascinating, and the cover illustrations are just beautiful. Take a peek beneath the sleeves…

And just last month, Serena Valentino tweeted the next addition to the series…
