About

I’m Lindsay, a FreelanceWriter and Blogger, cake and cocktail lover and collector of pretty things.

The Education

I made the decision to become an Editorial Writer during my final year of secondary school, but the signs of me entering this career have always been there (like always wanting to read magazines, or making a newspaper as a child and getting upset when putting it together as the pages were out of order!)

After leaving school, I studied for a National Diploma in Journalism at East Coast Media, part of the Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education, and continued on to the BA (Hons) Degree in Journalism at the same establishment. I graduated proudly with a 2:1 (and the Student of the Year award!) in 2010, and soon began working at a Grimsby-based publishing company as a full-time Features Writer.

The Experience

For three years, I was responsible for researching and writing features of varying lengths for a range of publications, including consumer lifestyle, business-to-business, trade and wedding magazines; of course, each piece had to be written in its own style to ensure the content was engaging for its target audience. In addition to being a stickler for correct grammar, another part of my role was to create advertorials, news stories and editorials on behalf of the clients that advertised within the publications – this is the reason why I have taken the (giant) leap to progress into the freelancing industry – because I love working with all kinds of businesses to create truly bespoke copy that encapsulates their brand.

The Career

Since beginning my freelancing career in September 2013, I have been fortunate to work with a variety of Lincolnshire- based businesses and organisations to help with their marketing efforts, from email newsletters and blog posts to published advertorials and social media campaigns. Take a look at my portfolio for examples of what I am able to do.

A personal love of mine is blogging and the whole social media movement – when I am not working or blogging, I will more than likely be browsing Pinterest or Tweeting. In March 2015, I revamped and relaunched my Lincolnshire lifestyle blog, YellowBelle, where I write about my passions – fashion, beauty, food, events and life in Lincolnshire. My blog now has an average of over 400 pageviews per month*, and this could not have been achieved without hard work, dedication and continuing social media action.

Another passion – life in Lincolnshire. I have lived in Lincolnshire all of my life, and in recent years, I have really grown to appreciate what a great county it is. There are so many fantastic places to visit, things to do, food to eat and people doing wonderful things, and if I can help to promote the area and the many innovative businesses located here through copywriting and social media, then I will be one happy little lady.
