On Saturday, the sun was shining, there was a slight breeze, and it felt like the first day of Spring here in Grimsby. So what better way to take advantage of the fine weather than to take a leisurely walk in the Woods.
If you live in or are from North East Lincolnshire, then chances are you already know of Weelsby Woods; so many people have grown up visiting here, playing on the old climbing frames, taking the family dog for a walk and having picnics, myself included. It boasts open spaces, woodlands full of wildlife, a children’s play area and cafe, and is located right in between Grimsby and Cleethorpes; it is so easy to reach from either town. The woods is always visited by dog walkers, runners, ramblers and families, and occasionally people taking up some outdoor exercises too. Brandy, our Golden Retrieve, is a very big fan of the woods, especially it’s biggest, muddiest puddle.
It is because of Brandy’s love of muddy puddles that wellies, for me, are a necessity! And I have never owned a more perfect pair of wellies than the navy spot variety from Joules.
Joules is a clothing retailer for women, men and children, and celebrated their 25th anniversary last year (#joulesjubilee). I first became aware of the brand a few years ago when I visited the Lincolnshire Show and saw a wonderful selection of prints on their stall – including the wellies! When my trusty (but cheap!) pair of boots began to fall apart late last year, I knew a pair of Joules Wellies would somehow find their way onto my Christmas list – and there they were under our tree on Christmas Day! So far, these wellies have experienced heavy rain, snow and frost, a beach and muddy woodlands, and they are certainly the comfiest, most well-fitting, pair I have ever owned – well, Joules have sold over 1.4 million pairs since thee company began!
