Cleethorpes has a fantastic selection of restaurants and eateries serving a whole host of cuisines, from traditional pub food and seafood (a must for the coast), to Thai, Mediterranean and, what is my new favourite, Tapas.
Riverside is a tapas and cocktail bar serving lunch and evening menus of Spanish cuisine located in the heart of Cleethorpes Seafront. Last week, my friends and I visited for a good old catch up, some tapas and a bottle of sangria.
We were seated upstairs in the restaurant (which has fantastic views of the beach at the front table) and started chatting over our sangria before mulling over the menu – we had some tough choices to make! There are lots of dishes on offer – seafood, meat, vegetarian, salad and bruschetta – and between us all we chose a mixture of everything, but I had my personal favourites.
I chose chicken, chorizo and fish paella, patatas bravas (deep fried potatoes with tomato salsa) and balsamic onion and goats cheese bruschetta; I loved every single bit of it! Particularly the bruschetta which was so rich and tasty – I have been thinking about our meal ever since. I think it’s pretty safe to say our party very much enjoyed the whole dining experience.
You can order six tapas dishes and have a bottle of sangria or house wine for just £35, but of course the menu has mains and sharing dishes too. Riverside also has a lunchtime menu which is served daily from 12pm, and a cocktail club every Thursday from 4pm.
