Did you know that Captain John Smith, the John Smith in Disney’s Pocahontas, was a real person, born and raised in Lincolnshire who actually travelled to North America to establish new colonies? I love that little Disney link to my home county.
Well, this weekend is the perfect time to get out there and do what he did best – explore. It’s Discover Lincolnshire Weekend!
It feels as though the event is getting bigger and better every year, and for 2016, many places across Lincolnshire are celebrating and taking part. For instance, The Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre is offering free entry all weekend, and Cleethorpes Discovery Centre is hosting a two-day Easter Spring Fair (look out for Worm Child Jewellery!) Take a look at the Visit Lincoln website to see a full list of what’s happening.
But, as well as the great places to visit, there are many reasons to appreciate living in Lincolnshire. This week, BuzzFeed got back in touch and asked me to put together a post to show that…
This one is a little more tongue in cheek, but I had a lot of fun writing it. I had a lot of points to fit in too, so I hope you all enjoy reading it.
Since it is Discover Lincolnshire Weekend, I wanted to have a bit of #TBT or #FBF moment (on a Saturday… #SlingBackSaturday?) and share some of the places I have had the pleasure of featuring on this blog over the past year.
